Description

What to Expect At Your Immigration Physical Exam

healthcare and checkup with caregiver checking blood pressure or pulse

You will have a medical screening and physical examination that typically includes evaluations of eyes, ears, nose, throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, and skin. Adults will also be given a urine and blood test.

U.S. immigration laws require certain vaccinations to prevent the spread of diseases. If you don’t have proof of prior immunization, required vaccinations, based on age, can be administered during the exam for: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningococcal disease, Varicella, and Influenza (during Flu Season).
Please note: US Immigration law requires, in most cases, individuals present proof of a COVID-19 vaccine. Proof must be presented at the time of the examination.

We will also perform blood tests for all green card exam applicants over the age of 15 to look for communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, syphilis, and gonorrhea because these diseases pose a public health risk. The doctor will also ask about your medical history including chronic or serious medical conditions that you may be being treated for.
